Our mission is to deliver advanced veterinary services to our patients in the most compassionate and humane manner.

Our Vision

To run our hospital on a financially sound basis, deliver veterinary services and the best quality care at a fair price, and uphold all legal and ethical aspects of the field of veterinary medicine.

Our Values

Highest Veterinary Standards
Sound Professionalism
Good Buisness Practices

We diagnose before we treat

We schedule a full 30-minute appointment for all our exams, with the exception of complex appointments which may be scheduled for longer. If you have concerns beyond a routine exam please express this when making your appointment. This allows us to schedule ample time to discuss your concerns, perform an extensive exam, and set up a treatment plan.

When providing expert medical care, a full range of specialized diagnostic tools and treatments are needed. If outside guidance becomes required we have the means to consult with board certified specialists. Our doctors routinely collaborate with one another when diagnosing and treating patients.

If you have an after-hours emergency, call one of the 24 hour clinics for assistance.

Appointment scheduling

In order to minimize your waiting time, we work on an appointment schedule. While walk-ins are welcome, we prefer that you make an appointment so that we may set aside appropriate time to assess your medical needs.

Normally, appointments are scheduled from 8:00 AM to 11:45 AM, and again from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Please let the front desk staff know all of your concerns so they may adequately schedule the doctor’s time. Problems that seem minor can sometimes require timely diagnostics. Also, if you are unable to keep your appointment please let us know 24 hours in advance, or as soon as possible. This way we can offer that appointment time to another patient, who may desperately need it.

Surgical patients are checked in by a doctor between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM on the morning of service. Please allow time for the doctor to examine your pet and discuss pre-surgical options with you. If a quick drop off the morning of is required, please discuss these options at the pre-surgical appointment. Blood work, radiographs, pain medication, fluids, or other treatments may be required.  We schedule routine surgical and dental appointments Monday thru Friday.

Daytime emergencies will be handled as proficiently as possible. Patients are triaged upon arrival, and emergent cases will be given priority. We hope you understand when an emergency disrupts our schedule we are providing necessary care to a critical patient. Were it your pet in critical situation, precedence would be provided to him or her. When serious delays occur we will attempt to contact you prior to your appointment to reschedule.

While we maybe able to accomidate walk in appointments, there could be a significant wait time. Scheduled appointments take presedence over walk in appointments. We will do our best to see your pet as soon as we can, but it may take hours. We may even advice you to go to an emergency clinic.

We have the right to refuse service for any reason.

Payment Options

We accept cash, checks, Debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, CareCredit cards, and Scratch Pay. Unfortunately we do not accept payments; this was an option taken advantage of in the past, forcing us to stop that practice. We understand that unexpected expenses arise, and provide the alternative for you to apply for CareCredit or Scratch Pay.

We offer CareCredit because we know your pet is an important part of your family. It is a convenient, low minimum monthly payment plan that helps you accept the best treatment recommendation for your pets. CareCredit is a credit card that is good for veterinary, dental, chiropractic, and physician services at participating clinics. You can apply for CareCredit at You may also apply phone (1-800-365-8295). Any personal information provided will be kept confidential.

Facility and Equipment

All Creatures Veterinary Clinic features a large, comfortable waiting area. We have five examination rooms for our doctors to eamine your pets in. Our fifth examination room has its own exit, which allows for discretion in those times when extra privacy is desired. We stock a variety of prescription dog and cat foods. We also have an assortment of toys for dogs and cats.

Our radiology department is equipped with digital x-ray machine as well as a digital ultrasound machine. We have the ability to send both x-rays and ultrasound images to Veterinary Radiologist if our doctors need a consult. We can now submit x-rays digitally to the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) for screening potential breeding dogs. If the doctor requests an electronic ECG, we have the ability to perform this in house and then send the results to a board certified Cardologist for review.

We have twenty-four kennels separated in three rooms plus an isolation room for potentially contagious patients. Two of our kennel rooms have an assortment of kennel sizes to accommodate the vast size variety of our canine patients, while one room is dedicated solely for our feline patients. Outdoor fenced runs are available for exercise and “bathroom” use.

We have sophisticated in-house laboratory capabilities, but we also utilize an outside laboratory service where internal medicine specialists are available.

Our pharmacy contains some of the more routinely used veterinary medications. This allows us to fill prescriptions on the same day as the pets appointment.

Our facility contains a surgical suite equipped with two surgery tables. Both tables have their own anesthesia machine and monitoring equipment. Our dental room is equipped with its own anesthesia machine and monitoring equipment, as well as digital dental radiograph and our dental machine.

All Creatures Veterinary Clinic, Inc. was established in 1984 by Dr. Joanne Rehn. Dr. Rehn began the practice out of the back of her truck. When she opened at our current location in June 1985, she was the only veterinarian, and had two support staff members, a technician and a receptionist. The practice has grown over the years to employ several veterinarians and more support staff. The clinic building has also grown considerably with the first addition of the reception and examination rooms finished in 1995. The latest addition was completed in 2005, and contains a spacious new waiting room and five examination rooms. The parking area has also been expanded and now contains ample room for employees and clients.

Over the years, All Creatures has treated anything from horses to snakes. As the clientele has changed, the practice found it necessary to discontinue large animal services, and focus on dogs and cats.

During the extensive Miller’s Reach Wildfire of 1996, we housed as many as 75 animals for people who were displaced from their homes. There were dogs, cats, chickens, and even a llama housed here for a short time. The staff donated many hours for these animals. We also treated several of the burned animals from the fire with great success.

We have been honored nearly every year since 1995 as the Number One Veterinary Clinic in the Mat-Su Valley in the Frontiersman poll. We have been listed in Alaska Business Monthly as one of the top 50 women owned businesses in the State of Alaska every year since 2004. All Creatures was also featured in an article in the August 2009 edition of the Alaska Business Monthly magazine.

All Creatures has been an associate member of the American Animal Hospital Association since 1996.

We have provided free first aid training to the Alaska State Trooper dog handlers, and have annually proudly supported famous Iditarod dog musher DeeDee Jonrowe.
Dr. Rehn has served the community as a member of the Valley Hospital Association operating board. She and Dr. Masteller have also been members of the borough Animal Control board.

All Creatures is a proud sponsor of Alaskan musher, DeeDee Jonrowe. DeeDee takes outstanding care of her dogs and we couldn't be prouder to help provide her veterinary care.

All Creatures is a proud sponsor of the Mat-Su women's All Creatures Veterinary Clinic hockey team. Our own, Dr. Judy Masteller, is a star player on the team!
